Fair terms
These are fourteen promises we make to everyone who uses Starhold Status. We wrote them down so you can hold us to them. If we ever break one, that is a bug, and we want to hear about it.
-
F1: No dark patterns
No pre-ticked boxes (the subscribe form has none), no confirm-shaming, no countdowns, no fake scarcity and no "are you sure?" mazes. Buttons say what they do.
-
F2: Email only, transactional only
Signing up asks for an email address and nothing else. Account mail is login links, billing, security, downgrade and deletion notices. No marketing, no newsletter. Subscribers to a page get only the updates they asked for.
-
F3: No credits that expire
There are no credits. Plans are allowances for pages, monitors and subscribers, not a balance that runs out.
-
F4: No surprise charges, no auto-upgrade
Hitting a limit stops that one action with a message. Nothing is billed beyond your plan and nothing upgrades without your click.
-
F5: Cancel in one click, prorated
One button, one confirmation that states your refund. You go back to Free at once and the unused part of the period is refunded pro rata.
-
F6: One public price table
The pricing page lists every plan and every limit. There is no "contact sales".
-
F7: A generous free tier
Free is a real public status page with components, incidents, maintenance, monitors, RSS, a JSON endpoint, a badge and a small subscriber allowance.
-
F8: Your content is never logged
Incident text, Markdown, subscriber and viewer emails, passwords, tokens and check bodies never reach our logs.
-
F9: No third-party trackers
No analytics, pixels, tag managers, third-party fonts or CDN scripts on any page, including your customers' pages. A test scans every template for outside hosts.
-
F10: Instant export and delete
"Download my data" builds the file while you wait. "Delete account" and "Delete page" act at once.
-
F11: Plain-English terms
Every legal page opens with a one-paragraph summary in everyday words.
-
F12: Hard caps, clear messages
Every limit tells you which limit it is and its value. Nothing is silently dropped when you reach a cap.
-
F13: Very inexpensive
The top plan is at most $29 a month.
-
F14: Published cost basis
The pricing page states what a page, a monitor check and an email cost us, once those numbers are measured. Until then the box stays hidden rather than showing guesses.
