Terms of service
Use Starhold Status to tell people the truth about systems you run. You are responsible for what your pages say. Do not impersonate anyone, phish, or monitor systems you are not allowed to check. We may take a page offline if it is abused, and we refund the unused time. We never charge more than your plan or upgrade you without a click. The service comes without warranty and without a service-level promise.
1. What this is
Starhold Status hosts status pages, runs simple monitoring checks you configure, and emails updates to people who subscribed. It is provided by Copper Jerky LLC, an Arizona limited liability company doing business as Starhold Software ("we", "us"). These terms add to Starhold Software's general terms for its products.
2. Your pages and what they say
- You are responsible for everything your pages, incidents and emails say.
- Do not impersonate another organisation's status page, link to phishing or malware, or publish anything unlawful.
- Monitor only systems you operate or are authorised to check. We check only the addresses you configure, never faster than once a minute.
- Subscriber email is for status updates about the page they subscribed to. Do not use the service as a mailing list.
The acceptable use page says more.
3. Accounts
You sign in with an email link. Keep your session and your tokens private. You act for the people who subscribe to your pages, and you are the one who decides what happens to their data; see the privacy notice.
4. Plans and billing
- Each plan is a set of allowances (pages, monitors, subscribers, emails). They are not credits and do not expire.
- At a limit the action stops with a message. We never bill beyond your plan and never upgrade you automatically.
- Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Their terms govern the payment itself.
- You can cancel in one click on your dashboard. You return to the Free plan at once and we refund the unused part of the period pro rata.
- When a plan ends, pages beyond the Free plan go offline (never public) and are kept for 90 days; see pricing.
5. Taking a page offline
We may take a page offline or suspend an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we refund the unused time pro rata, unless the abuse was fraud. We will say why when we can.
6. Availability
We aim to keep the service running and will say so plainly when it is not. There is no service-level agreement and no service credits in this version. Do not make Starhold Status the only way your clients learn about an outage you cannot afford to miss.
7. No warranty
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Checks can be wrong, mail can be delayed, and a page can be unavailable.
8. Limit of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue. Our total liability for all claims about the service will not exceed the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the event, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some places do not allow some of these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Changes
We may change these terms. We will change the date below. Using the service after a change means you accept it.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona.
